GRADUATION RATE CLIMBS IN PALM BEACH COUNTY

The graduation rate in Palm Beach County District-operated schools continues to climb. According to data just released by the Florida Department of Education, the School District achieved a 91.7 percent graduation rate for District operated schools in 2018, up from 90 percent in 2017. This increase means that the District continues to outperform other most large urban school districts in Florida for the fifth consecutive year.

VERDEX CONSTRUCTION BEGINS WORK TO BUILD WATER TOWER COMMONS APARTMENTS

West Palm Beach, Fla. – (December 19, 2018) – – West Palm Beach-based Verdex Construction has started construction of Water Tower Commons, a master-planned residential development in Lantana, Florida. The project consists of 14 buildings with 360 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, plus a clubhouse with yoga studio, spa, and exercise room. Interior space totals 430,000 sq. ft. including the clubhouse, and the site is 16.11 acres. Other amenities include a pool, park, and outdoor barbeque area.

FAU TO SERVE ON SPECIALIZED AGENCY OF THE UNITED NATIONS

Florida Atlantic University recently was appointed to serve as a member of the International Telecommunication Union(ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) focused on information and communication technologies. FAU is among a handful of academic institutions representing the United States and the only academic institution in Florida serving as a member of ITU. FAU’s appointment to ITU was approved by the U.S. State Department.

FROM SUPERMARKET TO SUPER ENGINES: ONE GRADUATE’S JOURNEY

(Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – Dec. 10, 2018) When Eduardo Gilces graduates from Palm Beach State College’s Engineering Technology A.S. degree program this month, he’ll already have eight months under his belt at his dream job as a drafter/modeler for Florida Turbine Technologies in Jupiter. However, 19 months ago, his job at FTT—helping to design turbine engines for the aerospace industry—seemed like a dream that would never come true.
