BDB FACILITATES THE GROWTH OF 28 COMPANIES IN NINE MONTHS

July 22, 2019 – PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) is pleased to announce the growth of 28 companies that have either relocated to or expanded in Palm Beach County. All 28 companies have one thing in common; they have relocated or expanded using the BDB’s complimentary services. Whether it’s expedited permitting, making the right local connections, finding commercial or industrial space, or applying for grants that the company wasn’t aware of, the BDB is the economic development engine for Palm Beach County. Just within the past nine months, over 1,700 high salary jobs have been facilitated for Palm Beach County residents, creating a capital investment of $187 million through the BDB’s economic development efforts.

Fifty years after Apollo 11, NASA inspires PBSC students

Fifty years after Apollo 11 landed on the moon, Palm Beach State College students are learning what it takes to explore outer space as participants in NASA’s undergraduate programs. Miguel Mattis and Matthew Merlo are part of a new generation of students inspired—like the Apollo generation before them—by NASA’s ambitious plans for future missions, which include sending the first woman astronaut to the moon by 2024, establishing a sustainable human presence there by 2028, and moving beyond to Mars.

BDB INTERN SERIES: Young Professionals Give Advice to Interns From Across the Nation

July 16, 2019, WEST PALM BEACH, FLA –  The BDB brought together summer interns from across the nation to show them why Palm Beach County is the perfect place to start a career and enter the workforce. Over 45 interns from over 30 different BDB member companies participated in a panel presentation at Banko Cantina yesterday. The panelists included four young, successful leaders in the workforce from diverse industries, moderated by a millennial from the BDB. Douglas Whipps of  Daszkal Bolton shared that he started out as an intern at the company he’s currently employed at and worked his way up at the accounting firm. Javier and Paula Cue of Pratt & Whitney talked about the positive work-life balance in Palm Beach County as a married couple living here and working in the Aviation/Aerospace/Engineering industry. Diana Ngyuyen of Florida Power & Light talked about how there’s so many different job opportunities and departments at Florida Power & Light, highlighting that it’s not just electricity jobs. For example, there’s marketing, finance, law, infotech, etc.

SPORTS MANUFACTURER TO EMPLOY 100 IN RIVIERA BEACH

July 12, 2019 – RIVIERA BEACH, FLA – The Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) is pleased to announce the expansion of Fluorotek USA Inc., a leading manufacturer of elite sports equipment for professional sports teams, universities and colleges, as well as the US Military. The company currently has 25 employees with plans to scale it up to nearly 100 by the end of 2019 at its new 24,000 sq. ft. facility in Riviera Beach. The city will gain an $8 million capital investment into the local economy.
