GENETIC TESTING IN DIVERSE YOUNG BREAST CANCER PATIENTS OVER A DECADE

Breast cancer patients diagnosed under age 50 represent 18 percent of new invasive breast cancer cases in the United States. Compared to postmenopausal women, younger women are more likely to develop aggressive subtypes of breast cancer, have a worse prognosis with increased risk of recurrence, and have higher overall mortality. Young breast cancer patients also are more likely to be diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, which is associated with a higher frequency of BRCA1 genetic mutations.

JIM MORAN INSTITUTE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SMALL BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT EXECUTIVE PROGRAMS

Broward/Palm Beach, Fla. — The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, in the Florida State University College of Business, is accepting applications for its Small Business Executive Program (SBEP) and Nonprofit Executive Program (NPEP) held in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Offered at no cost to participants, the programs are funded by The Jim Moran Foundation and Jim and Jan Moran. Application deadline is Tuesday, March 31.

MILLIONS ARE FLEEING HIGH-TAX STATES TO PURSUE A LOW-COST AMERICAN DREAM

After the Connecticut General Assembly passed a billion-dollar tax hike in 2015, General Electric warned they might move their corporate headquarters out of the state if then-Gov. Dannel Malloy signed the bill. Malloy went ahead, and the following year General Electric announced the elimination of hundreds of jobs as they packed up the headquarters they’d called home for over 40 years.
